Type specimen voucher catalogue number: BMNH:Mamm:1919.2.7.34

Type locality: Otro Cerro, 3000 m, Catamarca, Argentina. Clarified by U. F. J. Pardiñas and colleagues in 2007 as "an abandoned ranch in the southern end of the Sierra de Ambato, Capayán, Catamarca."
